Technology Update

We like to brag about how long things last in our home. For example, my husband wears clothes that are ten years old, we have a tv that is seven years old and until a little over a year ago we were operating on a Windows 98 (Second Edition) computer. So needless to say upgrading is something we don't do much, unless there is a need, and it doesn't bother us at all.

Last week I decided to upgrade my cell phone to the IPhone. I had been tossing the idea around and looking between that or the Blackberry. Holding an IPhone made me finally decide; it is just too much fun! So Chris and I went to our local AT&T store and upgraded my phone. While there the woman asked Chris if he would like to upgrade his phone too. He was completely happy with his Nokia that he got over four years ago. He told her no and we went on our way, while I played with my new phone.

That visit became the worse visit ever for Chris...I am going to bust out my eighth grade talk here....we "jinxed" his phone! He began to lose his signal frequently, for days at a time. His phone would no longer ring, just vibrate. Worst of all, it wouldn't keep a charge. So he dealt with this for a week and decided it was now time to get a new phone too. He started shopping around and was very disappointed. Why you ask? Well here is what he wanted his phone to do: DIAL AND MAKE PHONE CALLS. He didn't want a camera, didn't want to connect to the internet, no text messaging, he didn't want any GPS features, etc... So how do you find a phone that just calls the person you want? Well you don't....you just settle. He finally found a Sony Ericcson phone with a lot of options, but it was FREE! He is still discovering what all it can do.

Two phone upgrades in less than a week! My poor husband, these things always happen to him. Why him, I don't know, but I feel it is what makes him so much fun to be with!

I gotta (how's that for proper english?) blackberry at Christmas, mostly for work emailing. I like it a lot, but I wish I had bought a more expensive model as the internet browsing is terrible- but how was I to know?!? Now that i've had it for months I know what I want for next time.

This post made me laugh and laugh! That keeping things FOREVER is an Oliver trait! ha!
I'm not usually a tech savvy person but I am dying to get an Iphone! I want one so bad!

By the way, there is a phone that just dials and makes calls. I believe its called a Jitterbug. Its a phone for the elderly! Have you seen the commercials?
